This exercise corresponds to playing the white notes of a piano starting on note C.

Learn the above scale pattern both ascending and descending. You can use it at different positions on the bass guitar fret board for alternative keys.

The major scale is associated with a cheerful mood. If the third, sixth and seventh notes of the major scale are flattened by a semi-tone then the natural minor scale that is associated with a melancholy mood is created.
