2) [ G ] Hither page and stand by me, [ C ] If thou [ D ] know'st it [ G ] telling.
[ G ] Yonder peasant who is he? [ C ] Where and [ D ] what his [ G ] dwelling?
[ G ] "Sire he lives a good league hence, [ C ] Under [ D ] neath the [ G ] mountain.
[ G ] Right a[C]gainst the [ G ] forest [ D ] fence, [ G ] By Saint Agnes' [ C ] foun[G ]tain."

3) [ G ] "Bring me flesh and bring me wine, [ C ] Bring me [ D ] pine logs [ G ] hither.
[ G ] Thou and I will see him dine, [ C ] When we [ D ] bear them [ G ] thither."
[ G ] Page and monarch forth they went, [ C ] On[D]ward both to[ G ]gether.
[ G ] Thro' the [ C ] rude wind's [ G ] wild la[D]ment, [ G ] And the bitter [ C ] wea [ G ] ther.

4) [ G ] "Sire the night is darker now, [ C ] And the [ D ] wind blows [ G ] stronger.
[ G ] Fails my heart I know not how, [ C ] I can [ D ] go no [ G ] longer."
[ G ] "Mark my footsteps good my page, [ C ] Tread thou [ D ] in them [ G ] boldly.
[ G ] Thou shalt [C] find the [G] Winter's [D] rage, [G] Freeze thy blood less [C] cold [G] ly."

5) [ G ] In his master's steps he trod, [ C ] Where the [ D ] snow lay [ G ] dinted.
[ G ] Heat was in the very sod, [ C ] Which the [ D ] saint had [ G ] printed.
[ G ] Therefore Christian men be sure, [ C ] Wealth or [ D ] rank po [ G ] ssessing.
[ G ] Ye who [C] now will [G] bless the [D] poor, [G] Shall yourselves find [C] bless [G] ing.
